In Memory Of

Louise C. Richardson, age 96 of Broadus.

September 29, 1922 – February 14, 2019

Louise Catherine Richardson went to be with her Lord on February 14, 2019. How appropriate that she would meet the one she loved the most on Valentine’s Day.

Louise was born September 29, 1922 to John George and Anna (Marx) Dinstel in Chicago Illinois.   Louise joined a brother, Frank Anton.
In 1925, John and the kids moved to Ridge, MT. Louise grew up there on the ranch. She went to elementary school at the Donald School and then to high school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Miles City, MT.   Louise washed dishes to help pay her tuition, room, and board. When Frank and Louise were in school in Miles City, a letter from their father informed them that he had purchased a car. The two teens wanted to see it, so they rode the mail to Boyes. Being late in the evening, no one was going to Ridge. They walked in, arriving in time for their angry father to give them a ride back to Miles City in the newly-purchased car. After graduation Louise returned to the ranch to help her dad. She loved the animals and especially her horse, Champion. After the death of both her father and brother in 1956, Louise took over the family ranch. On November 17, 1957 Louise married George Richardson. They lived on his parent’s ranch at Hammond, which they purchased in the 1960s.   On March 13, 1963, Louise became a loving, dedicated mother to her forever infant daughter, Kathlene Louise (Kathy).   Louise and George dedicated their lives to caring for Kathy. They ranched until the time of George’s death in 2006. Shortly after that Louise moved to Broadus MT.

Louise worked hard from the time she was a young girl doing ranch work such as herding sheep, building fence, and putting up hay. She loved to bake bread and make donuts. Louise loved playing cards and visiting with neighbors. She also enjoyed her chickens and gardening. Some of her favorite activities were picnics at the rock wall, going with George to watch for fire and count lightning strikes, hunting arrowheads, going to auctions, and especially going to church at Alzada and Broadus. After Louise moved to Broadus, she became involved in activities at the senior center. She looked forward to playing 500 and hand and foot and especially looked forward to making donuts for the card party.   Louise was not handed an easy life but through her tough independent nature and her faith in God, she managed to live a life that many admired.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband George and daughter Kathy, her brother Frank and her parents.

The family would like to thank the Powder River Manor for the care they gave Louise in her final years.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Carter County Museum, the Powder River County Museum, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.

A rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. David Catholic Church in Broadus, MT. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. David Catholic Church in Broadus. Rite of Committal will take place in the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus.
