In Memory Of

Luella Wylie

Visitation: There will be a short time of visitation prior to the service at the cemetery

Graveside Service: 10:00 AM (MDT) Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at the Bainville Cemetery

Luella Wylie, 92, a pioneer resident of Bainville, Montana passed away of natural causes at the Roosevelt Memorial Medical Center in Culbertson, Montana on December 26, 2003.

Luella Reva Henrietta Swant was born in a homesteaders cabin south of Bainville on August 22, 1909. She was the sixth of eight children of Fred and Amelia (Lubs) Swant. The family welcomed Luella into their midst less than a year after the Swants moved to Montana from Charles City, Iowa. Luella was educated in the Lakeside School south of Bainville.

On October 25, 1939, she was united in marriage to Earl Wylie. The couple had no children. Luella joined her husband while he worked as a construction gypsy in Flagstaff, AZ, where he helped build roads to the Boulder Dam site. She also lived in Wolf Point, MT while Earl worked on the Fort Peck Dam. Following their extensive travels, Luella settled into her home on Bainvilles main street. She took pride in her yard and gardens as well as her Christmas decorations. Her home was one of the first in Bainville to have an outdoor display for the holiday season. Following her husband's death in 2000, Luella retired to the Kensington in Williston, ND until failing health necessitated her moving to the Roosevelt Memorial Facility in 2001.

Luella is survived by three nieces, Gail Swant of Chinook, MT, Linda Swant of Fargo, ND and Wendy Dodson of Troy, MT; and a nephew, David Swant of Lwermore, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and all seven of her siblings, Frederick, Mildred, Harry, Clyde, Harold, Ruth Beaudry and Alice Summers.

Everson-Clayton-Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Culbertson is in charge of the arrangements. If you wish to send the family condolences please send an email to: csmc@nemontel.net
