Luvern Niles Birt passed away October 5, 2017 at Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth, Montana. Luvern was born on August 30, 1944 to Reginald Birt and Katherine Staton. He was raised by his grandfather George (Jim) Washington Staton. Luvern attended school in Sac City, Iowa. On November 21, 1961 he joined the Army at Fort Hood, Texas. He married Linda Lee Christwell on July 24, 1965 to this marriage two children were born; Brian Birt and Chris Grause.
His career included working for Dixon Lumber Company, self-employed carpenter and worked for Kurt Grouse. After 23 years he retired from the D.O.T Highway Department in Sac City, Iowa. In August of 2017 he moved with his family to Forsyth, Montana to help his daughter and her family with a new business venture.
He is survived by: sisters; Connie and Audrey; brothers; Wendell and Rex; son, Brian Birt; daughter, Chris Grause; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Katherine Birt; wife, Linda Birt; brothers; Marvin, Lester and Larry Birt; sister, Shirley Birt, and son-in-law, Robert Tibbs.
