Mabel Nellie Record, age 89, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Pioneer Manor in Gillette, Wyoming.
Mabel was born on September 7, 1914 in Wolsey, South Dakota the daughter of Edwin and Edith (Gould) Brown. She was raised on the family homestead at Rocky Point, Wyoming. She attended country school and high school at Moorcroft, Wyoming. Mabel married Clarence Record on October 3, 1933 in Deadwood, South Dakota. They lived on Clarence parents ranch on Kara Creek. They later moved to Sundance, Wyoming where Clarence worked in the oilfields. They then moved to Spearfish, South Dakota then later moved back to Clarences parents ranch where they helped his father until the time of his passing. In 1942, they moved to Moorcroft where Clarence worked at Brigg Garage. In 1943, they moved to Gillette where he worked for Keefes Auto Parts, which he bought, and it became R&R Auto Parts. They had a summer home in the Big Horns in Wyoming where they spent their summers fishing.
Mabel enjoyed painting, doing craft projects, and playing cards. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Womens Circle, and Senior Citizen Center.
Mabel is survived by four sons: Raymond "Red" Record and his wife Phyllis of Gillette, WY; Jim Record and his wife Marvis of Story, WY; Jerry Record and his wife Joan of Sheridan, WY; and Don Record and his wife Dalyce of Terry, MT; a daughter, Bev McClung and her husband Bill of Scottsdale, AZ; sixteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, and a son, Joe.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2003 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Gillette. Interment will follow in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette. I sincerely loved Clarence and Mabel Record. Although they were not in my life long, they always welcomed me in their home. Many childhood memories were in their home in Gillette. Many conversations in the breakfast nook.
