Mack Willard Porter, age 64, of Miles City passed away at his home on Friday, January 7, 2011.
Mack was born on July 3, 1946 in Forsyth, Montana to JackPorterand Lynn (McCain) Pluhar. He attended elementary school in Cohagen and Jordan, graduating from Garfield County High School in 1964. He worked for his dad as a carpenter until he was drafted into the army in 1965. Mack went through basic training in Ft Ord, CA and AIT in Ft Lewis, WA. His over sea's duty included a year ofbuilding barracks in Thailand. After his honorable discharge in 1967 he returned to Jordan and continued to work with his dad in the carpentry business.
Later, Mack went to work driving truck, first for Bill Stanton and then for Wayne Hunter until a serious car accident left him disabled. After many months in the hospital and rehabilitation treatment, Mack changed careers to fit his handicap. He opened Mack's Pro Rate business in Miles City. He enjoyed this business until his retirement. The last few years Mack's health has kept him close to home and making frequent trips to VA Hospital facilities.
Mack is survived by his mother, Lynn Pluhar of Miles City, daughter, Kris Rogers (Dan) and 3 grandchildren (Andrew, Zack, and Megan) all ofHighlands Ranch, CO,one sister, Jackie Dietrich(Paul) of Portland, OR, and a special friend, Dean Milroy.
