Magdalena Galzagorry, age 91, passed away on Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 in Sammamish, Washington after an exte nded period of failing health.
Magdalena Galzagorry, born Goi-Hualde, was born in Gorostapolo, a small area of the village of Errazu in the Basque, Region of Spain, on April 6th, 1913. She immigrated to the U.S. after marrying the late Jean Galzagorry in April of 1960. She lived in the Yellowstone Valley with Jean and his 4 daughters. She became a U.S. citizen in 1972. She worked alongside her husband farming and ranching most of her life as well as cooking at the Log Cabin Cafe for a brief period. Following her husband's death in June of 1990, she lived briefly at the Eagles Manor before moving to Washington in 1993 to be closer to her daughter. Her health gradually deteriorated until her recent death. She is survived by her daughters, Liz Galzagorry of Helena MT, Cathy van der Linden of Sammamish WA, Grace Galzagorry of Nevada City CA, and Helene Galzagorry of Austin TX and a sister, Consejo, of Madrid, Spain.
A small memorial service in her honor was held at 11:00am Friday June 4th in the chapel at Providence Marianwood Nursing Home in Sammamish where she lived the last couple of years.
