Magdalene “Maxine” Sackman Guidice was born at home near Mildred, Montana on December 18, 1927, and passed away on June 27, 2016 in Rapid City with her family at her side. She was raised on the family farm near Fallon, the youngest of 14 children born to Jacob & Salomena Meier Sackman. She attended a country elementary school and graduated from Terry High School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Miles City and worked at the First National Bank.
On March 19, 1949 she and Charles Guidice were married in Sheridan, Wyoming. They had three sons: Dennis, Donald and Douglas. Nothing was more important to Max than family, and she loved being a “stay at home mom.” To say she was a fantastic cook is an understatement.
Max loved children and volunteered at the Kennedy, Garfield and Washington Schools including their summer reading programs. She also volunteered at the Holy Rosary Hospital gift shop, the VA, Meals on Wheels, and knitted baby caps for newborns in the hospital NICU.
Max was a devout Christian and long-standing, active member and deacon of the Presbyterian Church, and Elizabeth Circle. She was always working on some type of project for their annual Country Store, after which they’d take underprivileged children shopping for clothing. She devoted countless hours to the church’s prayer chain and cards for the shut-ins; and especially enjoyed the pastoral service of Rev. Sherwood McKay.
Max enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping and fishing, or her garden and flower beds. She loved working on crafts and there wasn’t anything she couldn’t master, whether it was Christmas ornaments and stockings, needlepoint, cross stitch or embroidery just to name a few. She was an accomplished seamstress and made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling for many years and was a fun loving person with a great sense of humor, always ready for a game of cards or dice.
Max is survived by her three sons: Dennis (Charla) of Rapid City, Donald (Karen) of Chugwater, WY; and Douglas; five grandchildren: Tracie, Rob, Shannon, Crystal and Kurt; and seven great grandchildren: Kiera, Tyler, Tauni, Kaydence, Keagan, Collin and Drew. Also many cherished nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Chuck, granddaughter Kelley, grandson-in-law Doug Lefler, and all of her brothers and sisters.
Max lovingly devoted her life to acts of service to others and without a doubt left the world a better place. Her beautiful spirit will live on in the many lives that she touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date in the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery in Miles City. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City or the Intermountain Children’s Home in Helena, or the charity of their choice.

I had the pleasure of knowing Maxine, as we were neighbors for a number of years. Whether she was working on her lawn or her flowers, she always made time for a hello or little chat over the fence. It was a pleasure to know such a genuinely sweet lady! She will be missed! Prayers to your family.
