In Memory Of

Makinzy McMakin, 24, Of Lame Deer

December 23, 1992 – January 11, 2017

Makinzy Dowl McMakin (Buffalo Walking He’ toh’ vae Ame’ ose) went to be with the lord on January 11, 2017, at the age of 24, by his home in Muddy Cluster. He was born on December 23, 1992, at Harrisburg Hospital to Teresa and Oly McMakin and spent the majority of his life in Muddy Cluster, MT. He attended Lame Deer Elementary, St. Labre Middle School, and graduated from Colstrip High School in 2011. He also attended Chief Dull Knife College. Makinzy spent his free time competitively racing dirt bikes (winning 3rd place in the Mondak Series), working on cars, and spent countless hours writing lyrics and making beats with the NC Rydaz.

Makinzy’s humble ways influenced everyone around him and by knowing him we are better people and a stronger family. He was kind and always willing to go out of his way for a friend. He made sure he was there for you when you needed someone the most and would have your back, no matter what. Even though he was quiet, if he knew you were having a bad day, he always had a corny joke for you because he hated to see anyone suffer. He was tough and he was a fighter, but he had to go so he could be with the creator and watch over us with the loved ones who passed before him.

Makinzy will live on through our memories and will always hold a place in our hearts. He will be remembered as a goofy son, “special” brother, loyal friend, generous uncle always down for mischief, reliable cousin, and loving boyfriend. Throughout his life, he made many friendships and became a part of many families who will miss him and continue to honor his memory.

He is survived by the love of his life: Reyna Marie Little Wolf; his paternal grandmother: Theda McMakin; uncles: Mike, Pat, and Tom (Jane) McMakin, aunt: Deb McMakin; brothers: Loranzy (Jazz) and Rocco McMakin; sisters: Moritza (Bou Cheam) Termin, Lena McMakin, and Ciebells “Grasshopper” McMakin; beloved nephews: Kirin and Ronin Cheam; god brother: Bubba Red Star, and many other extended family members.

He is also remembered by the Seestheground, Ontiveros, Deputee, Killsnight, Woodenlegs, Red Star, Harris, Whiteman, American Horse, Limberhand, Elk Shoulder, Seminal/Glenmore, Cady, Bends, and Rowland families. Our family is large, please forgive us if we forgot to mention anybody.

Five sparrows sell for two coins of small value, do they not? Yet, not one of them is forgotten by God. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Have no fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.

We are very sorry for your loss. Hope there is some comfort knowing the whole community is in mourning and praying for your entire family. To hear of this tradgedy happening to such a fine outgoing, talented young man brings a deep sadness to every parent. We have lost so many on this road and I hope something will be done to stop the madness of the trucks being able to drive thru our Reservation without reproach. this should not be tolerated any longer. We are so shaken and offer our deepest condolences as we pray and mourn with you. The Lord Be With You All Always
