Marc N. Tonn, age 52, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City from complications of Addison's disease which he had been diagnosed with when he was a child.
Marc was born on June 7, 1957 in Miles City to Armand W. and Hjordice (Lee) Tonn. He spent his early childhoodas well as summers during the school years on the family owned SY Ranch south of Miles City. He attended school in Miles City graduating from Custer County High School in 1975. After graduation he attended Montana State University in Bozeman. He was a field representative for the Anderson Window Company and he and his wife, Teri, worked and traveled in the construction business during that time. He then became a partner in the Simonson Construction Company of Bozeman.
While residing in Bozeman, Marc continued his love of ranching and cattle. He raised cattle, horses and alsoBorder Collies. You would never see Marc without at least three to four of his beloved dogs in the back of his pickup. Marc spent countless hours with his dogs hunting and shooting deer, antelope, coyotes, and prairie dogs at the family ranch or just enjoying the wide open spaces of southeastern Montana.
Marc was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Miles City and was very active in the church as a youth. In 2009 Marc's health forced him to move to Miles City where he resided in the Friendship Villa Care Center until his death.
Marc is survived by his sister, Libby Tonn (Russ) Sylvis of Bozeman and their children Daniel Sylvisand Katie (Brian) Atkinson of Bozeman; sister-in-law Cheryl Tonn of Miles City and her children William A. Tonn of Bozeman; Anne (Michael) Quast of Buffalo, Wyoming;Michael (Rhianna) Tonn of Billings;cousins A. Although Marc was a cowboy and an expert horseman, he would not like to be remembered that way but he was extremely proud of his family's long time successful ranching heritage in southeastern Montana.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Friendship Villa Care Center for the excellent care Marc received for the past year. Expressions of appreciation also are given to Cheryl Tonn for her undying love, care and faithful support she provided to Marc and to Lance Tonn for his friendship, support and wisdom during Marc's long illness. Marc's family thanks you.
