Marcus Tonn

Funeral Service: Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City

Interment: Custer County Cemetery

Marcus Justus Tonn, age 90, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.

Marcus was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 18, 1916, the son of Wilhelm andWilhelmine (Krause) Tonn. Marcus moved with his family to Montana in 1918 where they settled on theMizpah Creek. Marcus attended schools in Custer County and graduated from Custer County High School. Following his schooling, he returned to the family ranch where he entered partnership with his father and brothers: Armand and Helder. Marcus married Catherine Wood on October 24, 1947. They continued to live on the ranch until they moved into Miles City in the 1990s. Marcus continued operating the family ranch until the time of his death. Marcus was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a devoted Christian.

Marcus is survived by his nieces and nephews: Dr. BorissePaulin of New York; Elizabeth Libby (Russell)Sylvis of Bozeman, MT; Cheryl (Bill)Tonn of Miles City, MT; Marc (Teri)Tonn of Belgrade, MT; Bruce (Julie)Tonn of Miles City, MT; and Lance (Linda)Tonn of Miles City, MT; his great nieces and nephews: Dan Sylvis, Katie Sylvis (Brian) Atkinson, Will Tonn, AnneTonn (Mike) Quast, Michael Tonn, BodieTonn, and Drew Tonn; and his great great nephews: Russell and Nicholas Atkinson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine in 2003; two brothers: Armand and Helder; a sister, HenriettaPaulin; and two nephews: Bill and DanielTonn.
