In Memory Of

Margaret A. Anders

Visitation: Beginning Sunday morning at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with the family receiving friends between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass: 12:10 p.m. Monday, June 21st at St. Marys Catholic Church.

Interment: Resurrection Cemetery.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010 Margaret Ann Sabados Anders, age 87, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret's health rapidly declined with liver cancer.

She was born Margaret Ann Sabados, on January 17, 1923, in Bozeman, Mt. to Frank and Leona Sabados and moved to Helena when she was 4 yrs old. Margaret's strong Christian beliefs were instilled by her mother Leona and her education at St Mary's Grade School and Cathedral High School where she graduated in 1940.

In school Margaret participated in many sporting events, including baseball, basketball and volleyball. Other school activities she participated in were church choir, drama, 4-H Club and class plays. Margaret enjoyed playing the violin. Her favorite subjects in school were Math, Reading and Penmanship. Her penmanship was absolutely beautiful.

Margaret attended Helena Business College in 1941. She worked at the Marlow Theater and the Federal Reserve Bank Branch of Minneapolis, located in Helena. Margaret married William (Bill) E. Anders on April 28, 1944 at St. Mary's Church in Helena, Mt. while he was home on leave from the Navy. After being stationed in Lynwood, CA the couple returned to their Helena roots and have lived here ever since.Bill and Margaret brought into the world 5 children, Gary, Doug, Connie, Tom and Tammy.They built 2 homes as their family grew. Their first home was on Leslie St and their second home in State Nursery Addition. They then restored the old Montana Children's Home, located at 2470 York Rd, where they have resided for 40 years.Margaret's interests were many and varied. She absolutely loved to travel. She and Bill included in their life adventures, cruises to the Panama Canal, Alaska and the Caribbean. Other travel locations included Hawaii, Branson Missouri, Nashville Tennessee, Canada, along with many other States.

Margaret's other interests included bowling, bird watching, volunteering, sports, site seeing, bargain hunting, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, board and card games, animals and grand kidding. She volunteered at the Good Samaritan Thrift Shop for the past 17 years. She was an election official for several decades. She volunteered at St. Peter's Hospital for St Mary's Church. She loved all sports and took great pleasure in attending all events of all family members, be it a school play, dance performance, band concert, rodeo competition, team penning, baseball, basketball, football or soccer game.She was an ardent Carroll College Football fan. In recent years Margaret always went for a daily ride with Bill, to see what was going on in Helena and surrounding area. MARGARET WAS A WORLD CLASS BARGAIN HUNTER, A HALL OF FAMER COUPON CLIPPER, LOVER OF GARAGE SALES, AND A VERY PRUDENT VALUE SHOPPER.

For years Margaret solved the daily crossword puzzles in the local newspaper. She loved to read, and kept herself very mentally active and alert. She also was an active member of the Broadwater Health Club - loving the water aerobics classes.

She was very competitive and was always a great partner to have in any board or card game. Her superb playing manner would often times quietly annihilate the competitors.Mom was a great seamstress and a World Class "mender of all garments." All family members will attest to that fact.

Animals loved her, she faithfully cared for "the Cat" for over 17 years and dogs were attracted to her always. Grandma's lap was always a sanctuary for family pets.Mom was stylish, dressed classy and let others know "I got this at the Good Samaritan.

"Mom loved all aspects of gardening, tended to her plants and kept her Geraniums alive for 10 years. Mom's smile and laughter were contagious. She loved sharing her new jokes.
Margaret and Bill loved to dance throughout their 66 years of marriage, which was an inspiration to all their children. Bill and Margaret were very entrepreneurial in spirit, jointly they started and operated the Spudnut Shop in the basement of the Grandon Hotel, Bill's Bakery and Lunch on Park Ave., Bill's Coffee Shop in the basement of the YWCA, Private Catering and the Coffee Shop in the Mountain Bell Building on Park Ave.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Leona Sabados and her son Thomas Wayne and his wife Trudy Anders.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill Anders. She is also survived by her sons, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Son-Gary (Jackie) Anders. Granddaughters-Deb(Steve) Wong. Great grandchildren-Misty and Lindsay Burns, Syerra Stroud. Granddaughter Jodi(Jason) Therriault . Great Granddaughters-Taelar and Madison Therriault. Son-Doug(Nancy) Anders. Grandson-Mike(Stephanie)Anders. Great Grandchildren-Maggie and Branden Anders. Grandson-Jake(JoAnna)Anders. Great Grandchildren-McKenna, Taylor and Kate Anders.Daughter-Connie Marie Anders. Granddaughter-Kristen Anders Garcia(Byron). Great Grandchildren-Trinity Rain and Tomas Gael. Grandchildren-Nikki(Ryan)Buck. Jade (JJ) Lancaster. Great Grandchild-Will Lancaster. Grandchild-Chase Anders. Daughter-Tammy(John) Novotny. Grandchildren-Bailee(Travis)Stovall. Annie and Allie Novotny. Special family members: Melissa Twohey; Heidi Simpson; Angie Young; Robert (Kristin) McGinnis,Kyah and Rylan; Melissa(Tom)McElfish; Ashley, Lexi and Avery Hooper; Michelle and Mario Padilla; Bryce, Cameron and Seth Padilla.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Margaret's name to the Good Samaritan Ministries Thrift Store; 3067 N. Montana Ave. Helena, Mt 59601. Viewing will be held at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, Sunday, June 20th at 10am - 6pm. Family Members will be in attendance to receive friends from 4-6pm, at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 12:10pm, Monday, June 21at St. Mary's Catholic Community, 1700 Missoula Ave., with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Mom was a stabilizing force in the Anders family. She will have a profound influence for generations to come. Her ability to always see the best in every situation and be the caregiver or helping hand was her most redeeming quality. We were blessed to know her and have her as part of our lives. The world is a much better place because she was here. The Lord welcomes her with open arms. "Thanks Mom for the Memories!
