Margaret Ann Burman passed away on June 12, 2022 at home with her daughter. Margaret was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin February 6, 1930 to Harold and Louise Butcher.
Margaret was raised in Clear Lake, Wisconsin on a dairy farm. After she finished college, she married. She lived in Chicago, IL and Seattle, WA for a short time. She then settled in Miles City, Montana where she taught school at a few country schools, including Kircher School.
She retired from the state of Montana Department of Corrections (Pine Hills) and then worked at Walmart as a door greeter until 2013 when she moved to Oregon to be with her daughter. This was the first time she had moved away from Miles City in over 60+ years and she became very home sick. Miles City had always been home to her and she moved back in 2017. She went back to Oregon with her daughter in 2020 where she resided until her passing.
Margaret enjoyed road trips, shopping until she almost dropped, going out for a nice dinner and keeping up with family and friends on social media.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Louise Butcher, her husband William (Bill) Burman, her brother Hal Butcher, a sister Alice Wilkins, and her granddaughter Susan Smith.
Margaret is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Pearl and Lynn Baker of Tucson AZ, her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jennifer Smith of Miles City MT, her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dale Marcil of Townsend MT, her son and daughter in law Patrick and Marlenea Smith of Butte MT, her daughter Peggy Faulkner of Albany OR along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, David (Alyssa) Smith (Zaniel, Arianna and Dayla), Jody (David) Fiechtner (Carson and Reid), Jenny (Chris) Ketchum (Brianna and Ashtyn), Randy Herzog (Ashley) (Blake and Lucas), Ryan Herzog (Vaiola), Shawna Smith, Alyssa Smith, Sheena Strohmayer ( Jackson and Charlie), Jase Tetschner, Austin Grimes.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
Margaret made many friends along her journeys and will be remembered for her zest of life. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
