Margaret Bowden

Visitation: Monday, October 27, 2003 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm at the SWFHC

Funeral Services: Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at 11:00 am at the Christian Church in Gillette, WY

Funeral services for Margaret Bowden will be at 11:00 a.m. on October 28, 2003 at the Christian Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Mike Dennis officiating. Pastor Wayne Phillips of the Gateway Ministries of Sundance, Wyoming will also be officiating. At her request Mrs. Bowdens final transportation will be provided by a handsome horse drawn carriage from the Christian Church to Gillettes Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Visitation and celebration of life will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel and also one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Christian Church.

Margaret Bowden passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2003, at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. A life long resident of Campbell County, she was ninety years old and just seven days shy of her ninety-first birthday.

Margaret Mabel Bowden was born on October 30, 1912, the second of six children born to Jacob and Della (Coffey) Dillinger in Wilmore, Kansas. Margaret moved with her family to a homestead sixteen miles south of Rozet, Wyoming when she was three years old.She attended various country schools through the eighth grade and then boarded in Gillette to attend high school. Margaret graduated from Campbell County High School in 1930.After high school she became a school teacher and taught in several area schools for five years. In the fall of 1930, Margaret was afflicted with polio. She recovered to the point she could live a normal and full life.On June 26, 1935, she married Hugh Bowden in Gillette, Wyoming and four children were born to this union. Margaret home schooled all of her four children through the eighth grade.

She enjoyed raising a garden and nearly always had flowers growing in her yard. After her husband Hugh passed away in 1969, she continued to make her home at the ranch south of Rozet until 1993. She then moved to the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home where she was a resident until her death. During most of her life Margaret worked on a book about her life on the Wyoming plains called, 1916 Wyoming Here We Come published in 2002.

Margaret is survived by her four children, Ruth Green and husband Lloyd of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jessie Worley of Gillette, Wyoming, Jim Bowden and wife Alberta of Rozet, Wyoming, Jeannie Dormady and husband Tom of Morgan, Minnesota, one brother Robert Dillinger and wife Claralee of Rozet, Wyoming, thirteen grandchildren, Lu Ann Allhusen, Lori Green, Kevin Green, Jerry Dickinson, Debbie Riggle, Todd Dickinson, Jamie Bowden, Susan Snyder, Annie Anderson, Betsy Green, Robert Bowden, Thomas Bowden, Heidi Bowden, thirty-two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, her parents, one sister, Inez Niswender and three brothers, Earl, Jay and Bill Dillinger.

Margaret will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

A memorial has been established in Margarets name to be designated by the family at a later date.
