Margaret Carter, age 102, of Miles City passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Margaret was born on April 10, 1905 in Rugby, North Dakota, the daughter of Mary and Ferdinand Weipert. She grew up in the Kinsley, Montana area until she started school, she then stayed with her aunt in Lansing, Iowa. When she returned to Montana, she met Frank Ted Carter at a country dance. They were married on May 6, 1924. They had just celebrated their 73rd anniversary one month before Ted passed away. They ranched in the Coalwood area until 1975 when they retired and moved to Miles City.
Margaret was truly a hospitable lady, no one was a stranger to her. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, artist and she could fix anything. We think she invented recycling. She crocheted hundreds of angels and doilies which she loved giving to family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She set a great example for her family. She never lost her whit and always had an answer for you. She will be truly missed. She was a member of the Range Riders Reps, Ash Creek Homemakers and the Sacred Heart Parish.
Margaret is survived by her sons: Lloyd (Betty) Carter of Volborg, MT and Kenneth (Delores) Carter of Broadus, MT; daughters: Bernice Carey of Volborg, MT, Doris (Ed) Irion of Billings, MT; nineteen grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, son Daniel, sisters: Mary DuRussel, Elizabeth Bush, Magdaline Carter, Isabel Duning, brothers: George and Herman Wiepert, son-in-law, Del Carey and Grandson Mark Irion and a great granddaughter, Kathy Ivester.
