Maria Guadalupe Esteves, age 85, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her home in Miles City surrounded by her family.
Maria emigrated from Mexico as a young teenager with her family to Texas. As a young woman, Maria worked various jobs to help support her family. While working in Idaho she met the love of her life Higinio Esteves in 1956. From this union they were blessed with six daughters. In 1961, they made Miles City their home.
One of Maria’s many pastimes was to sit outside and enjoy watching and listening to the birds around her yard. She was an avid gardener who had an amazing green thumb and could grow any kind of flower and or vegetable of which she was known for. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and cooking for all who came to her home. She was known to many as Grandma Maria as she welcomed anyone into her home and into her life with open arms.
Maria is survived by her daughters: Rosa (Clancy) Nerbonne of Butte, MT; Beatriz (Mike) Sturtz, Diana Esteves, Susana Leidholt and Mary Esteves (Art Jordan) all of Miles City; two brothers: Roberto Rodriguez and Benjamin Rodriguez of Val Rico, FL; two sisters: Rosa Rodriguez of Dallas, TX and Jesusa Rodriguez of Harlingen, TX; sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and her puppy Baby Bear. She was preceded in death by her husband Higinio Esteves and an infant daughter, Maria Elena.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. Grandma Esteves was a very big part of Tiffani’s and my life when we lived in Miles City, she was a very loving and caring lady and always wanted to help others and didn’t expect anything in return. I enjoyed her so very much and didn’t get to see her much in these last few years. We all know that she is now enjoying the greatest gift of all~the Kingdom of God! Love to all of the Esteves Family, may all of your wonderful memories be a comfort to you in your time of sorrow. God’s Blessings~Ian, Karla, Collin and Jaqcee

Growing up, I had many fond memories over at the Esteves House. Even though I couldn’t speak a lick of Spanish they always made me feel welcome. Your dad in his stripped bibs and your mom always puttering around in the kitchen! They are now together watching out over all of you. I love you ALL!

To all my dear cousins my deepest condolences. It is so hard to see her go. She will be dearly missed. I loved my Tia Lupe. She was a wonderful person. She had so much love to give. I remember when you all would come down and stay with mom and dad. We had so much fun. Mom and dad always enjoyed you alls visit. Now they are all together up in heaven. Enjoying life without pain. This month on the 22nd will be a year that my dad went home to be with all his loved ones. So it was hard to hear about Tia’s passing. Girls you are not alone. You have to great guardian angels watching over you and your families. I am a phone call away if you need to talk.
Love you all
