Maria L (Wall) Wiens passed away September 2, 2006 at Dallas, Oregon. She was born on April 27, 1910, in Mountain Lake, MN to Jacob and Katharina (Flaming) Wall.
At six years of age Maria moved with her parents to Lustre, MT where she attended the country school at Lustre and a few years at the German school in Mountain Lake, MN.On September 11, 1930, she was united in marriage to Peter P. Wiens. They farmed in the Lustre area until their retirement. She also assisted her husband during the years he served as a lay minister. To this union six children were born, Frank (Ethel) Wiens of Billings, MT, Theodore (Stella) Wiens of Glasgow, MT, Dorothy (Simon) Thiessen of Langham, SK, William (Eunice) Wiens of Lustre, MT, Elizabeth (Les) Peters of Scottsdale, AZ and Mary (Lavern) Ratzlaff of Dallas, OR. Upon retirement they lived in Glasgow and Phoenix, AZ until the death of her husband in 2002, after which she lived in the Dallas Retirement Center in Dallas, OR.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, her parents, two brothers and five sisters. She has left a great legacy of trust in her Lord to her six children, 25 grandchildren and their spouses, 62 great-grandchildren, her brother, Frank Wall and sister, Martha Teichroew, Dallas, OR and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral and burial will take place on Thursday September 7, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church at Lustre, MT. Interment will take place at the E.M.B. Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
