Upon returning to Miles City, she met and married Donald L. Niedge, who was serving in the United States Army, on June 18, 1956. They lived in El Paso, Texas and Billings, Montana, but ultimately, settling in Miles City where they raised three children, Mark, Brian and Dawna Jo.
Marian worked 55 years for Holy Rosary Hospital where she served in administration, medical records and the business office. She made many lifelong friends along the way and retired in 2005. She was a member of the LAMPS (Lady of the Lantern) program with Presentation Health Sisters, serving with compassion.
Marian loved her family immensely and doted on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended their activities and was very proud of them all!

Marian lived a full and dynamic family and social life. She enjoyed many wonderful years boating, camping, and traveling with her family and friends and she especially loved Christmas time making an” all out” effort to decorate the house, inside and out. She showered her children and family with special gifts.
Marian was an avid bowler, bunko, and card player, and a diehard University of Montana Grizzly fan, making many close friends throughout the years through these associations.
Marian’s home became the “hub” for celebrations, reunions and especially “swimming pool parties!”
Marian is a 20 plus year cancer survivor.
Mom was the “ROCK” of our family. She is deeply loved and will forever be missed.
Marian was preceded in death by her father, Charles W. Coltrin, her mother, Opal Mae (Fisher) Coltrin, and her son, Mark C. Niedge. Also, her Husband Donald L. Niedge, her sister, Vera Mae (Coltrin) Young, and her brother in-law, Melvin Young. All of Miles City, Montana.

Our family and Marion’s go back to when I was just a little kid. The Coltrons bought the “Snod” house next to ours. Old man Snod was a member of the Nazi Bund, so my folks were glad when he moved on in the early 40s. Marion lived next door to us, and we somewhat grew up together. As neighbors we knew Vera, Charlie, Opal and Marion well. When she married Don, they bought the old Stoller house across from us and completely redid it. it was always good to see the fun she and Don had going up to that lake north of town with their family and friends. Later, when my mom died, Marian bought her house for her own kids. I will miss seeing her when/if we come back from Orey gone. She was the real deal, a good woman who really took good care of her friends and family.
Dee & Shelly Batey says
Sending prayers to the entire Niedge family, from Dee and Shelly Batey.
