In Memory Of

Marie Shefelbine, age 92, of Circle

August 15, 1919 – August 5, 2012

Marie Shefelbine went home to be with her “mom” and “pop” on August 5, 2012, just 10 days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was born Marie Gidley on August 15, 1919, at Brockton, MT. She married Orville Shefelbine on September 19, 1938, at Glasgow, MT and they moved to New Deal where Orville went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corp at FT Peck. After FT Peck, they moved to a small farm on Red Water and later purchased their farm just west of the Sunnyside School in McCone County.

Marie had a wry sense of humor that endeared her to people. She loved hugs, both to give and receive. She loved to garden and was always anxious in the spring to get her bedding plants in the ground so they could begin producing their beautiful colors. She was not afraid to tackle most any job and was quite handy with carpentry tools. Growing up in the dirty thirties made a big impression on her and she learned to do a lot with a little. Her family was her joy.

Marie spent the last 5 years of her life in the McCone County Nursing Home where she was lovingly cared for by the staff there. Her feisty attitude and wry sense of humor kept them guessing and brought chuckles to those who cared for her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Orville, a brother John, a sister Faye and a son “Baby” Shefelbine.

She is survived by a brother Jimmy and two sisters, Thelma and Alice; a son Orville (Nancy) of Anchorage, AK; a son Leslie (Annita) of Laurel, MT; a daughter Kathy (Ron) McFarland of Circle, MT and a son Vic (Janet) of the family farm. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren,
James (Kelly) Shefelbine of Florida, Kelly (Che’) Eissinger of Cody, WY; Brad (Shannon) Shefelbine of Australia; Scott (Kari) McFarland of Belgrade, MT; Lara and Lucas of the family farm and 6 great grandchildren.

Per her wishes, Marie will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.  Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Circle is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:  www.stevensonandsons.com.

Please make memorials to a charity of your choice or to the McCone County Library.

To the Shefelbine Family: I have such fond memories from Sunnyside School, 4-H Club and the community, of your Mom. Such a beautiful lady and a hard working farmer’s wife. As you all share, talk and remember, may you truly find that the one you loved so much is still living in your hearts.
