February 18, 1944 – March 11, 2020

Marilyn Kay (Tucker) Hutchinson, age 76, of Ekalaka passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Marilyn was born February 18, 1944 in Baker, Montana along with her twin brother Myron to Irene (Meisner) and Rolla Glenn Tucker. She grew up at Ekalaka where she attended schools, graduating from high school in 1962.  After high school she attended college at Dickinson State University.  While attending college she was set up on a blind date with Alan Hutchinson and it didn’t take long before she knew he was the one.  They were married on July 10, 1965 in Baker, Montana. Following their marriage, they moved to Missoula for a few years.  While there, they welcomed a son, Gerald Alan and then a daughter, Shannon Kay. They then returned to the ranch at Ekalaka after the sudden death of her father.  Together Marilyn worked beside Alan in the hayfield and with the animals.  The pigs and chickens were her favorite.  Two more daughters joined the family, Lori Mae and Tammy Rae.  In 1980, after all the kids were in school, Marilyn began working in the courthouse. She started part time in the Clerk and Recorder Office before moving to the Superintendent of Schools office as a deputy. She work there for several years then the joined that office with the Clerk of Courts office.  In 2007, She became the Clerk of Court/Superintendent of Schools where she worked until retiring in December of 2012.

Marilyn was an amazing cook and loved to share her talents.  She cooked for many years at hunting camp and for many other functions.  Marilyn’s country style cooking is talked about by people near and far. Her recipes were requested by so many that she finally had a cookbook made. Her talents didn’t end there, she was also a seamstress, making clothes for the entire family.  She loved to crochet, knit and could paint beautifully. All of her children and many close friends have one of her beautiful doilies, afghans, or paintings. Marilyn loved to play cards.  She was always up for a game of pinochle or rummy. Marilyn was happiest when her family was around.  She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was an active member of the Medicine Rocks Church and served as secretary for many years. She spent many years working at the county fair, serving as superintendent of the Arts and Crafts department.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Eugene Alan Hutchinson of Ekalaka; her son Gerald (Billie Jo) Hutchinson of Laurel, MT; and their children Wyatt James and Samuel Alan Hutchinson, Kayce (Justin Richards) Jensen and Kayla (David) Barker; daughter Shannon Hutchinson of Miles City, MT; daughter Lori (Tony) Harbaugh of Miles City and their children Heather (Kord) Merical of Miles City, MT; Trenton (Donna) Harbaugh of Baker, MT and Canda (Brad) Fuqua of Lebanon, OR; and daughter Tammy Hutchinson of Miles City, MT; a brother-in-law, Les (Lynn) Hutchinson of Snohomish, WA; a sister-in-law, Cindy Hutchinson of Cheboygan, MI; special friends Tom and Kathy Stieg of Hammond, MT; and numerous great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother Myron; son-in-law, Keith Wittenhagen; her brothers-in-law: Harry and Arnie Hutchinson; sisters-in-law: Jeannine Hutchinson and Judy Tucker.

All good things and people must come to an end but we are so surprised and saddened about another one of our very special extended family of cousins passing away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alan, his children and all their extended families and close friends for the loss of such a dear person.

We especially cherish the wonderful memories of our “cousins” family reunions and the privilege, though scattered far and wide, of almost all the Hutchinson cousins being able to come together so many times to spend a long weekend filled with love and laughter and family. Marilyn’s smile , her kindness and sense of humor shines throughout those memories forever. God bless you all.. Ginger Hutchinson Wright

Sending our love and Prayers to all the family of this beautiful friend. We shared so many happy times and sad times but all those fun times we shared will be loving memories always. We never had better neighbors when they lived in Missoula. We all have good times, memories, that come to mind, but we loved Marilyn and Alan for being so special to all of us. Just too many miles or we would be with you as we share your sorrow. We love you all, and keep you in prayer. Our grandkids knew all about those wonderful Hutch’s although some didn’t meet. God Bless.
