Cemetery in Boyes, Montana Marilyn Kay Wright, age 57, of Spearfish, died peacefully at her home after a thirteen month battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born in Belle Fourche, South Dakota to Jack and Margaret (Williams) Mills of Boyes, Montana. She attended rural school at Boyes and graduated from High School in Broadus, Montana. After attending Dickinson State and Black Hills State Colleges, she developed the first elementary physical education program in the Belle Fourche school system, and taught elementary physical education in Belle Fourche for seven years. On July 25, 1977, she married Jim Wright and they raised four children. When her children were raised, she cared for her mother.

Few could compare to Marilyn in generosity. All who knew here will miss being remembered on special occasions including: Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, births and every holiday. But what will be missed most of all is the friendship she extended to everyone she met. Her home was open to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Once she befriended you, it became a lifelong companionship. During her own battle, she prayed for others with cancer, rejoicing in the victories, and mourning in the defeats. She will not be forgotten, but will be missed and mourned by many.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Jim, four children and four granddaughters: Julie (Shannon) Rolando of Spearfish, Jill Wright of Boston, Genie (Charles) Bouck of Okinawa Japan and Jimmy Wright of Boston. Her granddaughters are Anne-Marie Rolando, Kate Bouck, Alissa Bouck and Hannah Bouck. Also surviving is her mother, Margaret (Williams) (Mills) Schmaus of Cascade, MT; two brothers: Jack Slug Mills (wife Mary Anna, Poppy), and Steve Mills (wife Cicelia, Sis), all from Boyes, and one sister, Vivian Deleo (husband Ben) of Cascade, MT, as well as many nephews and nieces. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Jack Mills; and grandparents:
Louis and Anna Trucano and Roy and Bessie Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church on Exit 12 in Spearfish, SD with Mark Fuhr officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm at the Boyes Cemetery in Boyes, Montana with a reception at the Boyes Community Hall to follow.
