Marilyn (Mari) Freemont (Ame’ha’e Soaring Woman) of Lame Deer, MT died on Thursday evening October 3rd surrounded by her family. Mari, a loving daughter was born on December 9, 1968 to Francis Edward Freemont and Mina Seminole. She was the middle child with older brother Jason and younger brother Christopher. She was the first granddaughter of her maternal Grandparents Hubert and Mary Jane Yelloweyes Seminole. Her Paternal grandparents are Elwood and Mary Miller Freemont of Macy, Nebraska and both grandparents were caring and loving of their beautiful granddaughter.
Mari’s education started at Lame Deer Elementary, St. Labre School then she continued with Chief Dull Knife College earning two Associates of Arts degrees. She worked in several places such as Charging Horse Casino, Northern Cheyenne Housing Authority and Wendy’s among several other temporary jobs in Billings, MT always keeping herself busy. Her great grandfather Dan Seminole had said the qualities she possessed was her strength, patience and kindness and it was these qualities that made her a strong and loving woman. She had a love for animals and would bring home dogs and cats. While living in Omaha, Nebraska Mari picked up a stray cat that bit her, the hospital wanted to start her on rabies shots, however her father would not allow that. In later years there were other kids that she brought home because they had no place to live.
She is survived by her children, Channon and Bethany Freemont, Isaiah Antelope, Harley and Brandon KIllsnight and grandchildren Malakai, Mason, Taylor, Noah, Harmony and Kymani Limberhand, Grayson, Althea, Zander; Railei; Jailynn and Shylynn Three Irons, Josie Freemont and Talon Real Bird; Zeriah Magpie, Legacy, Alonzo, Taylei and Isaiah Antelope, Jr.
Mari’s family include her Aunt Victoria (Michael) Bearcomesout; Uncles Leon (Maxine) Seminole; Ambrose (Clementine) Seminole; Martin and Donald Seminole; Aunt Angeline Lovejoy of Walthill, Nebraska, Grandmothers Delores Morgan and Jeannette Stetler. Mari was preceded in death by her Uncles Burton, Eugene, Emmanuel, Raymond and Alfred Seminole; Uncle Delbert and George Freemont from her Omaha side. Her great grandparents are Dan and Jennie Blackhorse Seminole, Oliver and Gertrude Brown Bird Yelloweyes. Mari is blessed with many cousins from both sides of her family, the Seminole side and Freemont side. Lajuana (Lafe) Haugen; Johnny Ray, Wamblee, Darcy Rowland; Stella, Shanae (Troy) Haugen and Sherie(Jon), Reno, Ambrose Jr., Christine, Terrence (Kayla), Sebastian, Myron Seminole, Jordan, Shane and Toni Lee Freemont; Emmanuel and Shannon Seminole, Danielle and Cornelius Freemont, and Clint Gonzales.
Mari is survived by many relatives from father’s side of the Omaha Tribe and our Cheyenne Tribe. Extended family include Seminoles, Wolfname, Sooktis, Eaglefeathers, Evans, Simpson, Onebear, Whitedirt, Redneck, Littlebird, Yelloweyes, Gondara and Sioux families, Glenmore and Small family. Our apologies if we have omitted any family in our time of grief. We also want to thank everyone for their condolences and support during this difficult time.
The family wishes to express our thanks to the medical team at the Lame Deer Health Center Kim Studiner and the Public Health Nurses for all the care and help that was provided to our precious daughter. Nea’esemeno!
