Marilyn Walton of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City; she was 87.
Marilyn was born on September 25, 1927 at Pompey’s Pillar, Montana. She was the daughter of Harmon and Lola (Howard) McKinney. Marilyn grew up in Pompey’s Pillar and attended school there, and nearby Worden as well. She completed nursing training in Billings and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Not long after graduation she married Otto Schmidt in Red Lodge, Montana. Otto’s job in the military moved them to Denver, where they lived for several years. Otto finished his service and they moved to Sacramento, California where she worked for various hospitals. They divorced and Marilyn remarried In 1968 to her cowboy; King Walton. After moving to Glasgow, she worked at the local hospital until retiring at the age of 65, and King ranched south of Fort Peck . King and Marilyn moved to Miles City in 2002. King passed away in 2005.
Marilyn loved her family very much. She enjoyed reading, always loved to go to the country to work with the livestock, and loved her little dog Mickey.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters: Linda Hopp and her children Tami and David Miller Jr.; Joyce Gibson and her children Katie, Nick and Joey Morrison; step-daughters: Willa (Mike) Murphy and her children Kathy (Bob) Keys, Leah and Michelle Murphy; Vonnie Westland and her children Julie (Butch) Sibley, Kelly (Darrell) Mack, Shari (Paul) Furhman, Gary Westland and Vicki (Dave) Honrud and her ex son-in-law David Sr. (Marcia) Miller. Marilyn is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Otto Schmidt and King Walton, her brother Joe McKinney, and four sisters; Blanche Walton, Essie Lepine, Gwen Walton, and Mildred White.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Miles City Animal Shelter

I remember Marilyn warmly. She was kind and caring..very gentle and soft spoken..always had time and compassion for others..even though I seldom saw her after I moved away..I will cherish the memories of her and King.
