Marian Firecrow, Haestȯhe’hame (Her Many Horses), was born on September 24, 1947, in Lame Deer at the old hospital, to Joseph and Elva Firecrow. She grew up in Lame Deer but attended school at St. Labre and Colstrip High School; later to graduate from Colstrip High School. While growing up she was very responsible and took care of her eight siblings.
After graduation she moved to Los Angeles, where she attended school for two years to become a nursing assistant. She then stayed in Los Angeles working at TransAmerica and later for Hubert Humphry Hospital in the pediatrics. She loved working with the children. She also loved animals deeply and would keep several cats regardless of the expense of having to pay for pets in an apartment. She helped with a local AA group and also an Emotional Anonymous group where she gave the members a lot of support. She was a very kind woman that always cared for others. She developed a very special friendship with Ray. She held to her Cheyenne ways and attended Pow Wows, even while in Los Angeles.
She eventually retired from Humbert Humphry and after a traumatic experienced moved back to the comfort of Lame Deer. Once she moved back, Ron became a caretaker for her and did a great many things to help her.
Marian was survived by her brothers: Joseph Jr., Ron, John, and Ivan; sisters: Josephine, Alvina, and Lavonne; nephews: Joseph S., Grant, Ira, Desmond, Robert IV, Jon, James, Calvin, Brandon, Joseph III, and Bruce; nieces: Melissa, Phylliss, and Karri; and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Firecrow Sr. and Elva Standsintimber; brothers, Ira and Hank; adopted brother, Francis Old Dwarf; sisters, Sheila Timentwa and Louella Firecrow; grandparents: John and Josie Standsintimber, Pete Firecrow, and Eva Redbeads; and nephew, Omero Firecrow.

Mrs. Williams says
The loss of Ms. Marian Firecrow a cherished loved one is the most devastating experiences family can face. At times, the loss may seem unbearable. Please know that there are people who care and more importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that “God is near to those that are broken at heart. He is the God of all comfort. My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time of grief.

To Marian’s family. I am so sorry to hear of Marian’s passing. She and. I were in the graduating class of 1966 from Colstrip! She was such a quiet, kind and caring person. Years later we saw each other on one of her trips home…..She hadn’t changed a bit! May God wrap his arms around you all to help you walk through the next days of sadness.
