Dr. Mark Irion, age 50, of Miles City passed away on Friday, December 16, 2005 as a result of an airplane crash.
Mark was born in Miles City, Montana on August 9, 1955, the son of James Edward and Doris M. (Carter) Irion. He attended schools in Deaver, Wyoming where he graduated from High School. Mark married Mary Elizabeth Eckhardt on August 14, 1976 in Cody, Wyoming. Mark attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Engineering and in 1980 with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following his schooling, he went to work for Sperry Aerospace in Phoenix, Arizona where he worked until 1985, when he was accepted into medical school at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated in 1989. He served his residency in Youngstown, Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio. In 1993, Mark accepted the Radiology position at Holy Rosary Healthcare where he has served Eastern Montana until the time of his death.
Mark was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Miles City Hanger Club. He was a Montana Medical Association representative for Southeastern Montana. He enjoyed motorcycles, skiing, cars, woodworking, and flying. Mark was always on the leading edge of technology in the medical field.
Mark is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Irion of Miles City, MT; a son, Tyson Irion of Miles City, MT; his parents, Ed and Doris Irion of Billings, MT; a sister, Carrie Reichert and her husband Tim of Billings, MT; a brother, Dennis Irion and his wife Charlene of Billings, MT; his grandmother, Margaret Carter of Miles City, MT and several nieces and nephews.
A Special Vigil will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Healthcare Chapel. A Christmas Celebration of Marks life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City with a reception to follow at the Holy Rosary Healthcare. The family is requesting that everyone is to be dressed in Christmas attire and wearing bells is encouraged. Condolences may be sent to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com.
