Marlene Esser, age 73, 0f Miles City passed away quietly after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on October 19, 2009 surrounded by her family.

Marlene was born in Mott, North Dakota on April 16th, 1936 to Joseph and Betty (Weinschott) Flohr. In the 1940s, she moved to Roundup with her family where she attended high school and worked at the drugstore. Marlene moved to Billings, Montana in the 1950s where she met David Esser and they were united in Marriage in February of 1957. They later moved to Forsyth in 1959 where they lived for one year before relocating to Marlenes permanent home in Miles City. She continued to work at local pharmacies while raising her children. Marlene played a very active role in her childrens lives, by volunteering at Sacred Heart School and church. Activities she partook in were working at the lunch room and playground.

She was a member of St. Gerards Circle of Sacred Heart. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and loved ceramics, often providing her family with ceramic treasures. She taught her children and their friends how to play cards, board games and she indulged her daughters in their favorite activity, dragging main street with their friends. Marlene was known well by many for her daily avid walks. Of all things important to Marlene, none were more prized than the love for her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. Marlenes relationship with the Lord gave her strength in barring her crosses with dignity. Her children were proud and admired her for her courage in which she lived her life. Mom, thank you for teaching us faith and loving unconditionally.

Marlene is survived by a son, Mike (June) Esser of Colstrip, MT; three daughters: Linda (Darryl) Moore of Miles City, MT; Theresa Esser of Miles City, MT; and Brenda (Steve) Koski of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren: Melissa Moore, Rex Moore, Madalyn Moore, Blythe (Kelly) McAuthur, Dalton Esser, Ethan Esser; two great grandchildren: Maki and Kamden; two brothers: David Crosmer and Gary Flohr; a sister, Vi Hartung; special family friends: Mary Moore and Gloria Bandaras.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Flohr and her mother Betty Myre; infant son, Joseph Esser; two brothers: Chuck Flohr and Micky Flohr; one granddaughter, Nicole Esser.
