Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:00 am at the St. Anns Catholic Church in Butte, MT.
Rite of Committal: follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte, MT.
Visitation: will take place an hour prior to the Mass at the St. Anns Catholic Church.
Martha J. Holland, age 94, of Miles City passed away on October 11, 2005 at the Friendship Villa in Miles City, MT.
Martha was born on February 22, 1911 in ONeil, Nebraska to Patrick and Bea (Ryan) Stanton. She graduated from high school in Bone'steel, SD. After graduation she received nurses training from the St. James Hospital in Butte, MT and her Bachelors degree from St. Louis University. In 1944 she and Robert A. Holland were married at Sts. Cyril and Methodious Church in East Helena. In 1945, the couple moved to Portland, OR where she worked for several hospitals in Portland area. She later received her Masters degree and continued teaching nursing at Portland Community College. Bob and Martha returned to Montana and lived in the Polson area for 9 years. In 1994, Martha moved to Miles City, MT to be closer to her family.
Martha is survived by her son Robert and his wife Pamela of Miles City and her grandson John of Glendive. She is also survived by two nephews; Monsignor Donald Shea of Bigfork, MT and Edward Shea of Dickinson, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Thomas Stanton and a sister Agnes Shea.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2005 from1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:00 am at the St. Anns Catholic Church in Butte, MT. Rite of Committal will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte, MT. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the Mass at the St. Anns Catholic Church. Friends may send condolences to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.
