Memorial service for Martha Lee Jean Brown will be at11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2004, at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church officiating.

Martha Lee Jean Brown, age 78, of Gillette, Wyoming, died November 3, 2004 at her home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.

Martha Lee Jean Brown was born September 3, 1926, the daughter of Estle T. and Lula Mae (Hill) Bailey in Hughesville, Missouri. Martha was raised and educated in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon her schooling, she attended business college in Hutchinson, Kansas. On August 29, 1946, she married Mel Brown. On June 29, 1960, the couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where Martha had made her home for the last forty-five years. Mel and Martha Later divorced. On July 19, 1968, she became self employed as a bookkeeper, something she enjoyed doing. She served many of her personal friends, who had small businesses, never really retiring as she still helped out when needed.

Martha enjoyed going to the mountains and fishing. She is remembered as a great cook; but none of these compared to spending time with her granddaughter, Bailey. Together, Bailey and Martha would play softball and basketball. They also enjoyed many long walks.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela M. Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; one granddaughter, Bailey Marie Brown; a brother, Estle J. Bailey of Kidder, Missouri; her aunt Kate Sheppard of Hutchinson, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William C. Bailey, and sister, Aline Thompson.

A memorial has been established in Marthas name to benefit Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Condolences and/or donations may be in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonandsons.com.
