Martin Peterson left this world on September 13, 2012 at the age of 58. Martin was born on April 9, 1954 in Miles City to Orville & Anastasia Peterson. Martin had an infectious smile & he loved telling jokes & making people laugh. He had a story or anecdote for every occasion. He loved his work & the freedom it gave him to travel the country seeing new places & meeting new people. The people he worked with often referred to him as “brilliant” & he took great pride in the work that he did. He was an electrical engineer, avid coin collector, published author, painter, photographer, father, son, brother, & friend. Martin spent his early years on the prairies of eastern Montana. He loved playing baseball, fishing, & cross-country skiing. He worked road construction during the summers while he was in college at MSU-Bozeman before beginning his engineering career that took him to places like Houston TX, Anchorage AK, Gresham OR, Burlington VT, & Billings MT. Along the way he wrote a western novel, started an engineering firm & an online publishing company, fathered 3 kids of his own & was dad to a few more, taught Sunday school & coached little league. He was a person who loved adventure & who would go out of his way to help anyone he could. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him & all those he impacted throughout his life. Travel well.

I am so very sad to hear of Martin’s death. My thoughts and prayers go to you all. I have nice memories of my high school sweetheart, who was so fun. Everyone would stand back when Martin danced to “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.” Back then he was a folk singer, poet, newpaperman, thespian, and scientist. He always said he was high on life, and I think he truly was. Last summer at the reunion, he told me that he thought we had a pretty wonderful childhood growing up in Forsyth, and I agreed. With greatest sympathy.
