Marvin C. Strand (age 81 of Circle, MT) passed peacefully in the early morning hours on Dec 22, 2015, at his family home.
Marvin was born on July 13, 1934, to Edward & Gertrude (Borgen) Strand as an only child. In the early years of his life, he and his parents moved around within Eastern Montana. Marvin graduated from Circle High School in 1953. Afterwards, he enrolled and attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, WA.
On Sept 17, 1955, he married Marajean Gackle. They remained married for 60 years and brought 5 wonderful children to this world. Marvin purchased the farm 30 miles north of Circle on Cow Creek Road from his father. He was a farmer/rancher and salesman of agricultural products in the area. Marvin enjoyed his years in the public. Many that knew him looked to him for advice. He was not one just to give advice freely and would made you work/think for it. He also had tootsie rolls at the store for all young and old.
Marvin joined the Masons early 1980’s. He became very passionate about his masonry. He then joined the Albedo Shrine, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Order of Eastern Star and others. He was Master of the lodge, Worthy Patron of the star chapter. To Marvin, the greatest accomplishment for him was being the Potentate of the Albedo Shrine for the State of Montana in 1996. He made many trips to Billings and other areas. He really enjoyed his year and made many, many friends. He traveled the state and even had a few trips just fun with those new friends.
Marvin found himself back at the store working as an agricultural salesman in Circle for a few more years. He retired from the store in 2001 to find himself back on the farm. He wasn’t necessarily farming but doing all of the odd jobs, like bin repair and spraying weeds. Later he did find himself doing the farming again with help from the boys. Just a couple years ago he thought he should retire from it all. That was just a fleeting thought as he always had advice/projects for those that were actively working. He made the best supervisor! He was certainly passionate for the agriculture industry.
Marvin also enjoyed his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marajean, 3 sons Bruce (Sherry) Strand of Kalispell MT, Jeff (Tami) Strand of Kalispell MT, Eddy (Sara) Strand of Colstrip MT, 2 daughters Denise (Bert) Stambaugh of Mancelona MI, and Anna (Dan) Peter of Circle MT. 12 Grandchildren: Sara (Mason) Ross of Jordan MT, Jacob (Kayla) Strand of Kalispell MT, Edward, Lisa, Becky Stambaugh of Mancelona MI, Carl Strand of Kalispell MT, Miranda (Joe) Lesmeister of Kalispell, Michael, David & Eric Peter of Circle MT, and Ashley & Alex Strand of Colstrip MT. 5 great grandchildren: Ryder & Remee Ross of Jordan MT, Sadie Strand and Aaden & Leland Lesmeister of Kalispell MT.
There will be a celebration of Marvin’s life on Dec 29, 2015, at 11 am at the Stevenson & Sons Chapel in Circle. The viewing will be on Dec 28, 2015, from 4-6pm with family & masonic service at 6:30 pm. Please send any donation to the Albedo shrine for the transportation of the children, cancer fund and/or any others of your choice.

Marv and I were good friends in high school. We both enjoyed upsetting his future brother in law teacher Bob Mc Donald] [shop teacher]I got hack marks to prove it just kidding. All healed after 63 yrs.
When he was in school out here we would get a visit at our house from time to time.
I was hoping I see him when I was there in Aug. Never enough time any more.
We are sorry for your loss.
