Mary F. Adams, age 86, of Forsyth passed away June 6, 2011 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Mary was born on March 2, 1925 near Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Christopher and Fannie Cooper.Mary attended school at Fort Towson and upon high school graduation she went to Southeastern Oklahoma College and obtained a teaching degree. She taught school for one year at the Midway School before marrying Lonnie Adams. They lived in several locations while Lonnie was in the Army / Air Force. Upon his discharge, they farmed near Denton, Texas. In 1947, Lonnie and Mary moved to Forsyth, MT to work on the Porcupine Ranch. They made their home there and Lonnie became the manager of the ranch until his death in 1980. Mary then lived with her daughter for two years until her own home was built.Mary was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Forsyth. She was an excellent cook and provided many meals for the hands working on the ranch. She loved to work in her flowerbeds and her garden. She was active in Homemakers. She was also past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Mary loved to travel. She made many trips to Europe, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Alaska, Canada, and Hawaii. She especially loved traveling to Oklahoma and Texas to visit family.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, L.W. Adams; husband, Lonnie Adams; brothers: Ross, Andrew, Liggie, and Ray Cooper; sisters; Daisy Hendrix, Gracie Melton, Gladys Gray, and Minnie Cooper.
Mary is survived by her son, Cary (Becky) Adams of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter, Lanell (Carroll) Kaup of Forsyth, MT; son, Dale (Carol) Adams of Belt, MT; and son Wade (Kwan) Adams of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Sarah, Ruth, Luke, Levi, Carla, J.D., Lonnie, Kim, Megan; Deanna, and Wesli; and 15 great-grand children; special adoptive family, Ryan and Johanna Tooke and children.
Memorials may be made to The Rosebud Foundation PO Box 500 Forsyth, MT or The First Baptist Church building fund in Forsyth.Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2011 from 10:00am until 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons in Forsyth with the family receiving friends from 4-6pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Forsyth. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Forsyth Cemetery.
