Mary Ann Mallett, age 77, of Miles City passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Holy Rosary Health Care Center in Miles City with her children by her side.
Mary was born on November 16, 1933, in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of Joe and Edna (Zwoliki) Kiel. Her parents moved from Wisconsin to Powderville, Montana in 1925 where she raised thirteen children and ranched until the time of her death. After her schooling she helped her sister herd sheep in Nebraska then moved back to Miles City where she worked for Bill Mathers. She married James Mallett on November 12, 1955. Hone’sty and integrity were two virtues in which Mary lived by. Most people worked to live, she lived to work and made the best apple pie in the world.
Mary is survived by a son, Monte (Sonya) Mallett of Powderville, MT; two daughters: Tammy (Mike) Pecha of Powderville, MT; and Jane Piercy of Billings, MT; two sisters: Alice Grasby of Miles City, MT and Virginia Ginny Freize of Miles City, MT; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband James Allen Mallett in 2001, ten brothers and sisters; one grandson, James Earl Clark; and one daughter, Sheila June.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran´s Cemetery.
