Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Kimball, 87, of Miles City died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in Miles City.
Mary Louise “May Lou” was born in Hysham to Peter and Clarice VanHemelryck, who both emigrated to Hysham from Belgium. She grew up in Hysham, graduated from Hysham High School and briefly attended college at the University of Montana.
In 1947, she married Edward Kimball after he returned from World War II and Sept. 13, 2013, they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. While living in Hysham, they had five boys (John, Rich, Jerry, Jim & Dale) and a girl (Colette). Lou was busy on the farm raising the kids, then in 1963, Eddie and she moved the family to Miles City where they enrolled the kids in Sacred Heart School. Mary Lou soon became involved with the Catholic Church and she volunteered in the St. Francis Circle and other activities with the parish. While in Miles City, they added another child (Scott) to the ever growing household. Mary Lou was a bookkeeper for a few businesses in town and she managed the accounting for Kimball Realty.
In 1984, Mary Lou and Ed purchased the Town Market in Hysham and spent time driving between Miles City and Hysham for a few years before settling back in Miles City. Mary Lou was a great wife and mother. She had a great sense of humor and loved her grandkids and great-grandkids. Some of her favorite times is when she had all the kids over for weekly lunch at her house. She cooked homemade chicken and noodles, and her crescent rolls disappeared quickly during the holidays.
Her survivors include her husband Edward of Miles City; son, John (Bobbin) of Stevensville; Rich of Anchorage, AK, Jerry (Carolyn) of Miles City, Jim (Kristy) of Miles City, Colette (David) Harris of Miles City, Dale of Miles City; Scott (Angeline) of Highlands Ranch, CO; brother, Al (Jane) of Klamath Falls, OR; and sister, Patsy Manning of Casa Grande, AZ. Mary Lou had 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 20, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A vigil will follow the visitation on Friday at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Church, followed by interment at the Calvary Cemetery. At noon a lunch will be hosted by the family at the Range Riders Museum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Music Ministry by calling the parish office,120 N Montana Ave, Miles City, MT 59301.

please except my deepest condolences for the passing of your mom. Life is a funny thing. When we are born , we need our parents to care for us. Then we grow and we want to pull away, be independent. But in the end letting go is so hard. I hope your memories bring your hearts love and happiness.
