Rite of Committal: will follow in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery
Mary Margaret (Sweeney) Crone, age 91, of Miles City went to be with her Lord in Heaven on July 27, 2007, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mary was born on October 20, 1915, in Caledonia, MN, to James Patrick and Ellen (Whaley) Sweeney. She and her parents moved to a farm on the Fallon Montana Flat on June 18, 1918, when she was 2 years old. She attended school near the farm through the 5th grade. The family decided they would move to Miles City, where her father worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and the children would be able to attend good schools. As Mary said, she received a wonderful education in Miles City, as she attended the Ursaline Academy through eighth grade and graduated from Custer County High School in 1933. This was during the depression, but she managed to find a steady job at F.W. Woolworth Co. and later at the Railway Express Agency as a bookkeeper. Mary and Glenn Crone were married on July 29, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City, MT. In October of 1957, Glenn and Mary were blessed with four lovely adopted children, ages 3, 4, 5 and 6. Mary believed that their education was the most important thing she could give her children, and made it a priority as they attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School. Glenn and Mary started their own business, Glenns Standard Station, in 1949 and operated it until they sold it to their son John in 1980. Glenn passed away on January 8, 1994, from cancer.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother and cherished her time spent with her family. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elks, Eagles and the Miles City Town and County Club.
Mary is survived by: John Crone and family of Laurel, MT, and Rick Crone of Salem, OR; Francine Pettigrew and family of Stafford, VA, and Lenora Schuldt and family of Goddard, KS, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, of 47 years, three brothers Ambrose (1983), George (1989) and Howard (1992) and two sisters-in-law.

Richard "Dick " Roberts says
While thinking of The Crossroads inn where I worked nights washing dishes and weekend days at Glenn’s Standard Ststion while stationed at USAF radar base I thought of kind and thoughtful Glenn. I enjoyed his honesty and trust in this young serviceman. Glenn was a really good person and I never forgot him. I was employed about 1957 through 1958 when I was transferred to Great Falls. It was a sad leaving Glenn and I had. He and I enjoyed our relationship. I am now near 78 and in Coeur d Alene ID.
