George & Janet Becker says
Mary was a wonderful friend for many, many years. Our children always referred to her as Grandma Mary. She was always fun to be around and took on the job of supervisor on many of the jobs that her and Bill helped us with over the years. Mary enlightened us with many stories and many of her life experiences from her younger days. She will be missed. Thank you Mary for all the wonderful memories.

Hey Uncle Billy, I’m very sorry for your loss. Our family is thinking of you.
I didn’t realize your mother had worked at Grumman. I had worked there for two years as an intern, right as she was retiring. Sometimes, it’s a smaller world than you realize.

I have known Mary Van Scotter since I was 11. That was 59 years ago! Bill & I became best of friends while in the 5th grade in Walnut St. Elementary School in Uniondale NY. His Mom always welcomed me into their home as a family member. What a great cook she was especially holidays. I recall the turkey and roast beef dinners and the homemade apple pie (from the apple tree in the yard) and donuts. Of course she was an inspiration to me. She was a homemaker, raised 3 kids and worked a full time job! What an accomplishment! She was always glad to talk to me on the phone or see me. I will miss her greatly. May God bless her. Bill and Family,
I remember Mary’s 100th birthday party that Janet & George Becker held in her honor. It didn’t take long for Mary to get in the party mood, what a wonderful celebration! She couldn’t have asked for a better son, that lovingly took care of his mom these past four years. It will definitely be a change around your home with your mom not there as you knew her. Hold tight the memories and believe she is only a whisper away!
