So sorry to hear about Mary Lou. She was my big sister in 4 H years & years ago. We all grew up in the Howard Valley as one big family. She had a very colorful life & couldn’t believe she lived thru it to tell. May she Rest In Peace !

I only have fond memories of friendship, fun and frolic that we shared many years ago in high school. We went different directions after graduation and years later sporadically kept in touch. The last few years we spoke more often-like it was yesterday. I reminded her of a poignant incident: That after being crowned “Queen of the Prom”(1961), she left the dance and went to my home to check on me, Who does that? A real friend whose consolation meant the world to someone who was stood up.
Our most recent conservation was about the class reunion in July and how excited to finally get together again. I will always remember Mary Lou as a beautiful soul. May she rest in peace.

Mary Lou and I were classmates and I always have had good thoughts about her. Since I moved away from Montana shortly after graduation, I had not had any contact with her until I moved back here. In 2017, I FINALLY “bonded” with her again at a farewell party for Willa Brockel Arbogast. Other than aging a little, thankfully, she was the same Mary Lou of long ago! I was looking forward to our next class reunion to spend time with her again. I married her cousin, Mike, last year and feel blessed, after all these years, to be related to her. My heart and prayers go out to Thurl and the rest of her family and friends.

Mary Lou and I were classmates and next door neighbors (1.2 miles) all through our school days. There were many Howard community events and many school events. Mary Lou and I liked to sit together and talk on the school bus. Her brother didn’t like that and convinced me who was toughest, but we still sat and talked.

A great friend is gone. Mary Lou and I were the only girls in our families, and as cousins were together a lot, so we felt like sisters growing up. Visits were not often even wen she moved back to Montana, but the closeness was still there. I especially enjoyed a visit last summer with her, Thurl, and our cousin Lloyd and his wife Diane of Minnesota in the farm house where so many memories were made growing up.
