MaryAnn Dillon Lebahn went home to Heaven to herd the sheep on April 25, 2010. She spent her life and her last day holding the hand of her true love, Sidney Lebahn. Sid and MaryAnn spent the last 51 years holding hands.
MaryAnn began her lifes journey On March 11, 1936. She was born in Brady Maternity Hospital in Albany, NY. Little did her parents, Raymond and Josephine (Denoval) Dillon, know that her journey would take her from the urban life of NY to sheep herding in MT. She attended the Vincentian Institute (in Albany) by the Religious Sisters of Mercy as well as State University of New York at Albany and New York University (NYC), she worked as a commercial artist/ statistical draftsman for the State of New York. In 1958. enter true love., known as Sidney Lebahn. While Sid was boarding with MaryAnns father and step mother, Rose Bruno Dillon. they met. Rosie was instrumental in bringing Sid and Maryann together. In less than a year, they were married.
In Montana MaryAnn worked as an admissions person for St. Peters Hospital, Helena; Draftsman/Researcher for the City of Helena; receptionist for L&C Human Services and L&C Family Planning but BEST of ALL as a shepherd for both people and sheep. She boided down the 23re psalm to four words: I am His lamb which said it al and she truly believed it.
MaryAnn, (Annie), loved God, her family, Montana, sheep, Irish music and the English language (in that order). She was a faithful, if a bit wacky, friend. An active member of the Cursillo/Journey and Shortcourse communities, she used her talents to show Gods love for His people (usually by listening or cooking). She was also active in Intermountain Childrens Home Festival of Trees, as a Designer, a member of Sons of Norway and a former Girl Scout leader.
She was preceded in death by: her father, mother, stepmother, brother Raymond F. (Lurene Dillon Sweeney) Dillon, Jr as well as stepbrother Louis Bruno, cousin, William Dillon all of Albany, New York.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Sidney W. Lebahn, Townsend, MT; daughter, Dawn MarieHarrell, (Scott ), Missoula. MT and son Andre Poirier Seattle WA , daughter Catherine (Jeff) Lebahn Griffin, David and Elizabeth, Dillon MT son Robert Andrew (Dawn-Marie Schmolke) Mathieu and Marissa of the Helena Valley; step-sister Concetta Bruno Gram of Albany, NY. She is also survived by Special cousins, Marjorie Shields (Frank)Witko,Lynn McNamara, Ann Dillon, Patrick M. Dillon, Richard (Cathy) Dillon, John Ronald (Elaine)Dillon, all of the Albany area and Thomas (Betsy) Dillon, Jr of Red Bank NJ as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM , Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the First Lutheran Church, 2231 E. Broadway, Helena, MT. No flowers please . I sniffed millions..even thistles. One yellow rose from my family will do. Instead, send the flower money to The Church of the Good Shepherd Boulder MT., or ACTS of First Lutheran Church, Helena, MT., or Hospice of St Peters, Helena MT. or charity of donors choice.
