Maureen Ann Patikas, 67, of Miles City, Montana passed away of cancer at Holy Rosary Hospice on Saturday, November 19, 2016 with good friends, Deb and Jo by her side.
Maureen was the third child born to Nick and Mary Grover Patikas on May 25, 1949 joining older sister Beverly and older brother Tommy. Maureen grew up, attended school and worked most of her life in Miles City. When she did spend a few short years in Washington, New York or Billings, Miles City was always her lifelong home. Maureen was a devoted friend to all who were lucky to be called her friend. If you were a stranger, you probably weren’t for long. Maureen worked at various establishments as a custodian throughout her adult life. The old Gaslight, Range Riders, Trails Inn, CJ’s and 4 B’s just to name a few. She also drove Taxi for Bob Bradley, meeting many people along the way.
Maureen enjoyed shooting pool and her pool league friends, shooting darts, swimming, fishing, camping, the mountains, crocheting prayer shawls and the fellowship it offered. Most of all she enjoyed her family, her pets and her friends. Watching her nieces and taking care of the ones she called her adopted nephews and nieces and watching them grow up. The gathering of family and friends for holidays, birthdays or just to hang out were some of her fondest memories that she shared.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, the love of her life Art and special friends who have gone before her. She is survived by her two nieces, Carla Wilson of Walla Walla, WA and Susan Williams of Miles City. Her good friends Lucille Ottesen, Deb Kingsly, Jo Meidinger, Karen Hawkins, Martha Crandall of Miles City, Doris Arlene Bolton Mitchell of Titusville, FL, Fred and Juanita Mace and family of Billings, and many more too numerous to mention.
Per Maureen’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Miles City at a later date. Announcements will be made at a later date. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
Do not weep for me when I am gone, for I have loved and been loved by those who loved me back for I never knew a stranger but only friends.
