Maxine Stephanie Leatherberry, age 55, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Maxine was born on May 21, 1955 in Beach, ND to Robert and Edith Carlson. She was raised in Miles City and graduated from Custer County District High School. Following graduation, she worked at the Friendship Villa as a CNA and later for the VA Hospital until her marriage to Alfred Leatherberry in June of 1973 in a joint wedding with her twin sister. Following their marriage, they ranched on the Tongue River with her husband until they sold their ranch in December of 2008. They moved into Miles City in May of 2009 where they made their home since.
Maxine enjoyed leatherwork, bead work and most of all her family. One of her highlights was when her hunters would come out hunting and spending time at hunting camp with them.
Maxine was preceded in death by two sisters: Debbie Carlson and her twin sister Dorene Robertson and her father Robert.
Maxine is survived her husband Alfred LeRoy Leatherberry, her son LeRoy Leatherberry, her daughter Dixie Leatherberry, her mother Edith Ebert; brothers Farron Carlson (Linda), Carl Carlson and Claude Carlson (Cheryl); and sister Robin Leatherberry (Ray) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Maxine and Dorenes visitations with family receiving friends will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held in the Custer County Cemetery at a later date.
