Maxine M. Erickson was born in Glendive on May 29,1928, the
second of five children to Margaret (Seeberger) and Max
Feisthamel. She grew up in Glendive and graduated from
Dawson County High School. Close friends since elementary
school, Maxine and Leroy Erickson married in 1949 and raised
four children together.
Maxine worked a variety of jobs as a teenager, and in her adult
years held a series of accounting and finance positions for
Montana Dakota Utilities, Royal Neighbors of America, MDU
Employees Federal Credit Union, Goodyear Store, and First
Security Bank.
In her personal life she distinguished herself as a great cook
and baker, accomplished at sewing, crotchet and quilting.
Maxine also enjoyed reading, card games and later in life,
exploring the internet.
Maxine and Leroy were committed supporters of their
community and gave generously of their time, effort and
possessions. As a member of the Glendive Hospital (Medical
Center) Auxiliary, Maxine did volunteer work for over thirty
years at the hospital and the hospital-affiliated thrift shop, The
Attic. Maxine made countless stuffed animals, pillows and
small quilts to be given to children at the hospital. She
supported Leroy in his work as a city councilman and member
of the hospital board of directors.
Maxine was a good example and firm advocate for women’s
equality in the home and the workplace. She asked little of the
world and gave back much more.
Maxine is survived by her children Jim (Rose), Bill (Sally), Tom
(Cindy), five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two
step-grandchildren, one step-great grandchild, and her sister
Bonnie Broeder. She was preceded in death by her husband
Leroy, daughter Patti, brother Bob Feisthamel, and sisters Pat
Baker and Annette Haggerty.
At Maxine’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial
service. Interment will be at Dawson Memorial Cemetery.
Remembrances can be made to Holy Rosary Healthcare
Foundation (Miles City), Glendive Medical Center Foundation
or any charitable organization promoting heart and lung
health.
