Merlyn Raymond Weber, 89, of Forsyth, MT, passed away on May 31, 2023, under the care of StillWater Hospice of Montana and MorningStar Senior Living in Billings, MT.
Merlyn was born on April 3, 1934, in Tacoma, WA to Raymond and Melva Weber. He grew up in Jamestown, ND with his parents and two sisters. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1952.
Merlyn joined the US Marine Corp in 1952 and served during the Korean War. After completing his military service, he pursued a college education at Jamestown College (ND), where he was an outstanding athlete playing football and wrestling. He was inducted into the Jamestown College Hall of Fame in 1995. He was voted the city of Jamestown’s outstanding athlete in 1957. Merlyn was also a great fast pitch softball player, being one of North Dakota’s best pitchers through the 1960’s and early 1970’s.
Merlyn was united in marriage to Ginerva (Ginny) Koenig on October 1, 1960, in Jamestown. Together they raised four sons and one daughter (Jay, Todd, Scott, Neil, Lisa).
After working on the railroad in Jamestown, Merlyn and family moved to Forsyth, Montana in 1974, where he continued to work for Burlington Northern Railroad as an engineer. He retired from the railroad in 1994.
Merlyn was dedicated to his family, spending countless hours with his children (and other young athletes), developing their talent. His zeal for the fundamentals, his intensity, his fervor for the discipline and education required to, “be your best” never ended. He was a great coach in each of the big four –Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Wrestling.
Merlyn is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ginerva; four sons, Jay (Kim) of Denison, Texas; Todd, of Hill City, South Dakota; Scott (Maria) of Forsyth, Montana; Neil (Vanessa) of San Jose, California; daughter Lisa Gardner (Keenan) of Victorville, California; several grandchildren and great-children and sisters, Beverly Ennis of Jamestown, ND and Delores Gausvik of Bismarck, ND

Lisa and Weber Family – We are truly sorry for the passing of your dad. As you celebrate his legacy be encouraged with these words. “Losing someone you love is like losing a part of yourself. You miss them and you miss who you were with them. Nothing will ever replace that. Hopefully every time you share a memory, recall a moment of laughter, or find yourself doing something that reminds you of the times you spent together, you’ll feel that part of you again. Hope you all will one day find comfort in the remembering.” Love you dearly, uncle Dwane and aunt Margie
