Michael (Mike) Arthur Schiffer passed away Monday March 13th, 2023 at his home in Rosebud, MT at the age of 62. Mike was born on the Yellowstone bridge outside of Rosebud on their way to the hospital in Forsyth on October 30th, 1960. He was one of four children, and the first son born to Arthur and Ruby (Smith) Schiffer.
Mike had a mechanical mind and was a thrill seeker from a young age. At the age of 7, he would disassemble anything mechanical just to see how it worked. He would always say “don’t worry, I can make it work again” and he did! As a young teen he decided to slip away from the fairgrounds to see what the night life was all about. On that night he witnessed two ’57 Chevys drag race Main Street of Forsyth. From that day forward his love of hot rods was born.
In 1985, he married Julie Stevens and together they had 2 boys Chris and Billy. Later he found the love of his life, his soul mate, Trisa Reed. Together they had a daughter Brandy. They resided at the Schiffer Ranch for their remaining years together. Throughout his life they made many memories of boating, having fun with family and friends on the river. His passion was engine building and tractor pulling. He took his family with him every chance he could get away from ranch to pull. His dream was to be a part of the pro pulling circuit and he was able to accomplish that dream with the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League.
He was a great leader, “boss man”, and mentor to many. He was a God fearing, hard working man that knew how to play just as hard as he worked. Mike was always there to lend a hand or give a word of guidance. He had a wealth of knowledge and many skills. There wasn’t much that he couldn’t do. Although a High School dropout, he always joked about getting his GED at MSP. A person would almost think he was proud of that!
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Art and Ruby (Smith) Schiffer. He was survived by the love of his life and soulmate Trisa Reed, his children Chris (Kaci) Schiffer, Billy (Sheena) Schiffer, Brandy (Josh) Schiffer. His 16 beloved grandchildren Valerie, Arthur, Ian, Isabell, Tyson, Liam, Averi, Nia, Maddox, Kayden, Lane, Eli, Jax, Jewel, Kane and Thor. His grandchildren meant more than the world to him. He would do anything for any of them. His siblings Karen (Schiffer) Mayberry, Julia (Jack) Ferguson and Joe (Dusty) Schiffer and his niece and nephews Joe, Andrew and Cassie Schiffer.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday March 25th from 2-5:00pm at Stevenson & Sons. A memorial and burial service will be held at the ranch at a later date.

Mike & Lynn Blakesley says
We were sure sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. I first met him when he was a kid, and would hang around my grandpa’s steam engine at the fair. (Even then, he was curious about engines!) More recently he was always an enjoyable customer at the store, easy to work with, and patient if I wasn’t quite sure what he was talking about. He will be missed, both for his personality and his encyclopedic knowledge about engines and such.

I am sorry to hear Mike passed away. I enjoyed a tractor pull with him once in ND. Was able to visit with him a few years back and rattled in a whitetail on his place for my cousin. I hadn’t seen him in years, but always wondered about him. May God comfort you with the best of memories now and always.

Debb Brewer says
We are so sorry about Mike. Shock is an understatement…
From the day I met Mike, I knew he was a good, kind, and giving person that would be a friend that I would cherish. I will never forget how we would always call and ask if we could you the camp site by the river for the weekend or go down and just fish for the day…he would get SOOO frustrated. Just go he would say. You are family, you don’t need to ask…This man was an mazing person and great friend and we just can’t believe that he is gone…
Dennis and my hearts are absolutely broken…Dennis considered Mike a brother and you Tressa, have been one of my best friends since the day we met. There are no words at a time like this…I can’t make it better, and it hurts that I can’t do that for you.
We are here for you when you are ready. We love you.

So sorry for your loss. So unexpected. What an amazing man. Mike was a professional at everything he did. He always had a positive attitude and he never complained no matter how bad things were. Like the saying goes, the good die young. Bill and Chris, you have always been like family. Please let us know if there is anything we can help with.
Warren and Mavis Schiffer says
To Mike’s family, I’m sorry to say I don’t know most of you as I’ve been gone for so many years. My fondest memories of Mike when he was around 5 years old. I was a teenager back then that Art allowed to work during the summer. When it came to plowing we needed to use the diesel tractors. We had to have Mike come out in his tender age to start the tractors as we didn’t know how to start them. This was a ritual every morning that he dearly loved. So sorry for your loss and praying for you.
