Graveside Service: later date at the Cohagen Cemetery.
Michael Mike Earl Petitt, age 75, of Cohagen passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Garfield County Nursing Home in Jordan.
Mike was born on December 18, 1935 in Miles City, Montana, the son of Morse and Margaret May (Michael) Petitt. He lived in Steves Fork until August of 1936 when he and his family moved to Finch, Montana. He then moved to Cohagen in 1940. He attended schools in Cohagen and graduated from Garfield County High School in Jordan where he was president of his class. He farmed and ranched at Cohagen his entire life. From 2001 to November of 2007 he was the primary caregiver for his mother.
Mike had a true passion and respect for firearms. He was a professional gunsmith, repairing firearms and building custom firearms for people all over the country. He had several articles published by the American Rifleman magazine.
Mike is survived by a brother, Roy Pettit (wife Barb)of Miles City; two sisters: Martha O'Meara (husband Roger)of Bozeman; and Margaret Bolejack(husband Dale) of Douglas Wyoming; and seven nieces and nephews:Michele Mogck of Three Forks, Zach and Dan O'Meara of Bozeman, Kevin & Jason Bolejack of Texas, Cheryl Oster of Miles City and Cindy Lawrence of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
