Michael Gregory Moody was born on September 7, 1974, arriving precisely on his due date, a rare moment of punctuality in his life. Born to Sandi and Kenny Kohones at Fort Carson Army Hospital in Colorado, Michael spent his formative years in Red Springs, NC, where he developed a passion for fishing and outdoor activities. He delighted in collecting baseball cards and avidly following football, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers. Later, he moved to Miles City, MT, to be closer to his family.
Michael had a talent for gardening and woodworking, crafting numerous impressive projects such as decks, porches, and birdhouses. Renowned for his carpentry skills and working as a pipe fitter by trade, he poured his heart into each endeavor. His greatest sources of pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness.
Despite encountering health challenges that curtailed his beloved activities, Michael persevered with remarkable courage. Throughout his illness, he continued to radiate love and inspire others with his determination and resilience. Known for his generosity, he selflessly assisted those in need with various projects, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his mother, Sandi (Jon); his life partner, Kim Malley; children Andersen Moody, Thorn Moody, and Eryka (Christian) Carter of NC, Vance Teske, and Marley Moody of Miles City. He is also survived by his sister, Nichole (Steve) Sutton of NC; brother Brian Moody of NY; brother JR (Erica) Kohones of Wyoming; grandchildren Nykholas, Melanie, and Audrey Carter; nieces and nephews McKenzie and Jackson Sutton of NC, Kayla Moody of NY, and Miles Kohones of Wyoming; and Uncle Will Stauber of NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenny Kohones; step-father, Gary Moody; brother Shane Kohones; and all grandparents.

Sandi, I was so saddened to learn from Will of Michael’s passing. His obituary was such a wonderful tribute to him and all who knew and loved him. My mom used to have a picture of Michael when he was 8 or 9 years old pinned on her kitchen bulletin board. I recognized Michael from the write-up – some 40 years older -because of his same beautiful eyes!
My thoughts, prayers and love remain with you and all the family.
Vicki Sapp says
This is a beautiful obituary. Love, prayers and comfort sent to all the family; I have always enjoyed following all the news and admiring what a close and loving family this is. Rest in all peace, Michael.
