Michelle Lee Littlewolf was born on January 1, 1968 in Crow Agency Montana to Doris Littlewolf and Eugene Limpy. Michelle grew up in Busby Montana and was raised by Gilbert and Marie Littlewolf as their own daughter. Her Cheyenne name was Me’eoo’e, Stands in Sight Woman. She attended schools at Busby, St Labre, and graduated from Colstrip High School in 1986. Michelle then graduated as the valedictorian from Dull Knife Memorial College with her Associates of Applied Arts in Law Enforcement in 1988. She wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a police officer. She worked as a police officer for the Bureau of Indians Affairs in Lame Deer. While living in Red Lake, MN, she attended one year of pre-nursing at Northwest Technical College.
Michelle loved to hunt and fish when she was younger and would always go camping with the family at Tongue River Reservoir. She loved to make shawls, quill work, sewing, beading, and cooking for our many family gatherings. She was an awesome frybread and skillet bread maker and was proud of the ability she learned from our Grandmother. Michelle was a great softball player in high school and college years. She also played basketball for Dull Knife College Women’s Basketball team with her sisters Karla Lei and Brenda Limpy.
Michelle married Jack Craig on 8/23/86. From this marriage came her only two children whom she loved very much, Jacklyn Craig and Kendal Craig. They later divorced.
Michelle met the love of her life, Sheldon Sandcrane in March 2004. They married in June 2006 and were happily married until his death in March 2020. Grandma Nancy Sandcrane affectionately called them “MiSheldon” as they were always together. Michelle had special relationships to Chloee Oldman, who was her Goddaughter and nephew Easton Hogan. Michelle stayed close to her mother-in-law until her death, watching out and helping Patty. Michelle was raising one her favorite nieces, Ty’esha Sequi as her own.
Michelle was working for the Northern Cheyenne Elderly Program at the time of her death. She enjoyed delivering food to the elderly, helping and caring for them. She often stated that her co-workers were a fun, crazy, and caring group. The family wants to especially acknowledge and thank them for everything they have done for her and the family with their support in her life and death.
