IN LOVING MEMORY OF MICHELLE LEE RUSSELL
Michelle was welcome into this world by her late Mother Loretta Clubfoot and her late father David Eaglespeaker from Canada. Loretta had then met Daniel Oldbull who took Michelle in as his daughter. When Loretta passed, Elvira and Melvin Woodenthigh came into Michelle’s life and adopted her into their family. Michelle attended Busby Elementary and Colstrip Public school. Her favorite football team was the Denver Broncos she loved cooking out and watching them play. Michelle also enjoyed playing sports herself. She enjoyed playing Basketball and Volleyball. She traveled with her kids to tournaments. Every sporting event she was there to cheer on her children. Michelle just wanted to let her kids know that she loved them very much. All her children’s friends began to start calling her mom. She was not just a mom to her kids, but she was a mom to the friends of her kids. Michelle did her best trying to help out the best that she can. Her smiled lighted up every ones hearts.
Traditional Prominent Background: Michelle was a strong believer of her culture, traditions, customs and spiritual ways of the Cheyenne People. Michelle was a “Fancy Shawl Dancer”. Her Grandmother of Canada made a full beaded regale Head band, cape, belt, leggings and moccasins with her Fancy Shawl. Michelle danced since she was a child. Traditionally honored with a first dance give away by her grandmother. Michelle traveled with her dancing friends: Tawny Fisher, Marjorie Bearing, Vincynthia Shoulderblade, Shawna Youngbear, they were former Northern Cheyenne Powwow Princesses. Michelle’s Auntie Adline Fox often escorted her to major Powwows, Michelle won Fancy Shawl dance contests by doing her own style dancing. Michelle’s favorite Drum group was Eagle Whistles: Head Dummer Late Billy Runsabove. Later, Michlle had met Johnny Russell and moved down to New Mexico. There she was traditionally adopted into the Navajo Clan Kin Yaa’a’annii (Towering House) by Ella Castillo. And from this union she had four Children who she leaves behind: Sabastian Russell, Trevor Russell, Natista Russell and DeLanna Russell. From her children she had one Grandson Kharter Russell.
