Robert Michael Anderson, age 63, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at his home in Miles City.
Mike was born in Miles City on September 8, 1951. He was the third of seven children born to Robert and LouEtta Anderson. Mike grew up on the family ranch at Knowlton, and attended grade school in Knowlton. He graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1969. After graduation he attended Miles Community College and in May of 1971 he joined the United States Navy. He served our country on the USS Brewton for 4 years, returning to Miles City in June of 1975. After attending Heavy Equipment Operator School in Florida, he graduated from MCC again. Then he attended Montana State University. Home was still the Knowlton hills and he returned there to spend the rest of his life. Until 2012, Mike worked in Eastern Montana As a farm and ranch hand Mike worked at the Boulware, Cavill & Erickson Ranches along with others. In 2012 a back injury forced him to move to Miles City where he resided until his death.
Mike loved working with animals and being around them especially his dogs. He was an avid rock and stick collector and would often be found in the hills at Knowlton collecting them. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews whom he considered his own children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and LouEtta, and one sister, Alise. He is survived by one Sister, Nancy (Paul) Dyba and four brothers, Pat, (Sandy) Anderson, Steve (Jackie) Anderson, Bill Anderson, and Kevin (Cheri) Anderson, all of Miles City, as well as the “other Brother”, Dean Sloan of Billings. Numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Knowlton Cemetery at Knowlton Montana. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
