Mila Morford

Funeral services: Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Miles City.

Private family interment: will follow in the Custer County Cemetery

Mila M. Hopkins Morford, age 79 of Miles City, ended her courageous battle with cancer on August 8, 2008, at the Holy Rosary Heath Care surrounded by her family.

Mila was born to Carl and Augusta Hopkins November 30, 1928. She attended Cottonwood Elementary School, Custer County High School, Miles City Jr. College, and graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula with a Bachelors Degree in Business. Following graduation from college she returned to Miles City and worked for various accounting firms until opening her own firm. She provided accounting services to many southeastern Montana people, businesses and ranches, including the John R. Scott Ranches. She was an expert horsewoman and enjoyed working cattle on the family ranch.

Mila married Wayne W. Morford May 13, 1991. She enjoyed raising horses on their place south of Miles City and attending Wayne's grandsons baseball games. Mila was a long time member of the Soroptomists, Sage Riders, Custer County Quarter Horse Association and the Presbyterian Church. She especially enjoyed the Tuesday and Friday luncheons and travels with Betty McCourt and Dorothy Dorn.

Mila was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Augusta Hopkins, a brother-in-law Harry Watts, a sister-in-law Betty Hopkins, a step-daughter-in-law Rita Morford, and a great nephew Quentin Watts.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Morford, his children, John and Johns sons Chris and Kelly, Katherine Morford and Katherines children, Brittany and Dustin; Mila's older brother Bill Hopkins, Bill's children Billy Hopkins and Kathy Cromartie, Kathy's children Crystal and Michelle; her older sister Audrey Watts and Audrey's children Myles (Gayle) Watts, their children Jade (Mandy) and Kimberly Watts, Tamie (Mike) Walsh their children Nick (Gina) and Jace (Stephanie), Rena (John) Medearis, their children Keaton (Amanda) and Reid and Tim (Shirlene) Watts and their child Christina and four great great nieces.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Miles City. Private family interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church, Miles City Public Library or to the charity or organization of your choice.
