Mildred Milly Becker Campbell, age 86, a Campbell County resident, passed away October 11, 2003 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Mildred Marie Campbell was born August 5, 1917 the daughter of Alvin and Vendla (Sandburg) OLein in Madison, South Dakota. She was raised and educated in Madison, South Dakota. In 1935, Milly graduated from Madison High School, and went on to two years of college at the General Beadle State Teachers College in Madison, South Dakota. In 1948, Milly married Harold Becker in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1966, she was employed with Intercounty Electric Association, where she worked as a secretary. Milly was a strong believer in rural electric co-op. In 1981, she retired from REA in Mitchell, South Dakota, where she worked as a receptionist/secretary for about 17 years. After her husband Harold Becker passed away, Milly devoted her time in caring for her brother-in-law, Harold Campbell. Her mission in life was to care for others. In 1987 Milly married Harold Campbell and they made their home in Watertown, South Dakota. After her second husband passed away in 1994 she moved to Gillette, Wyoming to be near her family. Millys passion was to cook for her family and always insisting that they have more to eat.
Milly enjoyed socializing, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, swimming, and taking care of her family and friends. She is best known for her loving and compassionate nature. Milly was member and was very active in her church and Al-Anon. After her retirement she volunteered for numerous organizations, including the Senior Center in Alaxandria, South Dakota, Meals on Wheals and the American Cancer Society.
Milly is survived by her two sons; Tom (Judy) Becker of Gillette, Wyoming; Phil (Linda) Becker of Graeagle, California; her daughter, Sue (Dave) Schuba of North Bend, Washington; two step sons, Le e(JoAnne) Campbell of Thermopolis, Wyoming, and Bruce Campbell of Dillon, Colorado and 4 grandchildren; Morgan, Eric, Nicole, and Laura Becker.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Becker in 1985, her sister, Helen Campbell in 1987, and her second husband, Harold Red Campbell in 1994.
Visitation will be from 7-9 on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming Funeral service for Mildred Milly Becker Campbell will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Sonja Brucklacher officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 2:00 p.m Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria, South Dakota. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society and donations can be sent in care of the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
