Misty Hirsch, age 38, of Miles City

March 25, 1981 – July 7, 2019

Misty Renell Hirsch passed away on July 7, 2019 at the age of 38.

Misty Renell Hirsch, the daughter of Jay Dee Hirsch and Rosella Mancha, was born in Helena, Montana on March 25, 1981.  She was the youngest of three girls.

Misty grew up in Miles City, Montana. She attended grade school and part of high school in Miles City before she moved to the state of Washington. There she graduated from high school at North Kitsap in Poulsbo, Washington.  Following her high school graduation Misty attended the Blackfeet Community College in Browning Montana, where she earned an Associate’s Degree.  She then moved to Pablo, Montana to attend Salish Kootenai College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science.  She followed up her education doing an internship at the University of Montana.

Misty had two wonderful sons whom were the loves of her life.  Her first son, Duane D Aikman III was born in Bellingham, Washington to her and Duane D Aikman II.  He currently lives in Kingston, Washington and is self-employed as a commercial diver and crab fisherman.  Her second son, Dustin August Kallowat was born in Polson, Montana to her and David Kallowat.  He will be a 6th grader in the fall. He really enjoyed swimming with his mom.

Misty loved spending time on her father Jay Dee’s farm in Miles City.  She was proud to be Blackfeet and Salish.  She spent many years learning the Native way of both tribes. She will be remembered as a strong athlete.  She enjoyed downhill skiing, basketball, motorbiking, and anything that kept her active.  In college she was an advocate for women involved in domestic violence, traveling to conferences as far away as Washington, DC.  Misty was also known for her beautiful singing voice.

She is survived by her parents, Jay Dee Hirsch of Miles City, her mother Rosella Mancha of Arlee, Montana; Sons, Duane D Aikman III, Dustin August Kallowat; Sister, Ashley Little Light; Nieces, Erica Jean, Whisper Rose; Nephew, Jasper Lawrence, and many more relatives.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Crystal Jean Little Light, Pollyanna Hirsch, Dusty Rose Hirsch; Maternal Grandparents, Octavia Jean (Smith) Monroe and Thomas Mancha; Parental Grandparents, Ida (Riley) Hirsch and Otto Hirsch.

Misty was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend who was loved. She will be dearly missed.
