Monica Swiontek, age 49, of Miles City passed away on Monday, January 19, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Monica was born in Lamoure, North Dakota on November 30, 1954, the daughter of Albert and Theresa (Zahn) Cox. She grew up and attended schools in North Dakota. She married Stan Swiontek in 1971. They moved to Ashland, Montana and worked at St. Labre Mission as foster parents. They moved to Miles City in 1995 and she worked at Singletons and Wal-Mart.
Monica had a way of touching everyone's life. She is best known for her giving nature and her love of crafts. She held a very special place in her heart for her family and the love of her life was her four grandchildren.
Monica is survived by her husband, Stan Swiontek of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Sarita Dickman and her husband Dustin of Miles City, MT and Jody Sept and her husband Kevin of Miles City, MT; four special grandchildren: Chance and Caid Dickman and Tanner and Kylee Sept; four brothers: El Cox and his wife Elsie of Berlin, ND; Avery Cox and his wife Peksim of Oakes, ND; Doug Cox and his wife Lena of Groton, SD; and Tom Cox and his wife Kerma of Custer, SD; five sisters: Eva Gross of Yipslanti, ND; Frances Schneider and her husband Ken of Ypsilanti, ND; Lola Schwind and her husband Harley of Lamoure, ND; Nada Cox of Robinsdale, MN; Ruth Metzinger and her husband Terry of Ipswich, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Malon Cox, two nephews, and one niece.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran Cemetery in Miles City.
